In the midst of the pandemic, Scania’s digital dealer program has successfully managed to digitally transform retail operations and commercial processes, connecting their trucks, customers, and dealers leveraging IoT and a new digital platform.
Scania is a 110-year-old industrial company with 50,000 employees working with customers, distributors, and 1600 distributors and workshops in 100 countries. There are around 1,000,000 Scania trucks on the roads today, of which more than 50% are connected and reporting their status and wear back to Scania R&D.
Scania invests around SEK 7.2 bn in R&D, an increasing part of that investment focuses on making the transport system safer and more sustainable for society. The trucks become a core part of a digitalized supply and transport system.
As the trucks become more computerized, electrical and less mechanical, new tools and skills are needed in the workshops. Scania is developing these tools as an extension of their core intellectual property. At the same time, a common support platform is needed to ensure every technician can keep up with the pace of change.
In parallel to the product development, Scania has run a major transformation initiative for retail digitalization, the “Digital Dealer” program, providing new platform and tools for the dealers and workshops.
Syed Zaidi, Head of the Digital Dealer program, will share his experiences from driving one of the most successful digital transformation initiatives in the industry. Syed will be accompanied by Scania’s implementation partner Advania, and ServiceNow.
